POPULAR POLICE OFFICER.

PRESENTATION AT THAMES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. Members of the police force, Court officials and representatives of the Bench met yesterday afternoon to farewell Sergeant J. Daly who has been transferred to Otahuhu. Constable Kennedy, on behalr of those present, presented Sergeant Daly with a case of silver fish knives and forks and a large dish. He thanked him for assistance rendered members of the force during his two and a half years in charge of the Thamra police district and wished him good health and happiness in his new station. All present spoke of the capable manner in which Sergeant Daly had carried oot his duties and also of his knowledge of law and court procedure. Sergeant Daly in returning thanks said he had received great assistance from townspeople in carrying out his duties, is stay at Thames,' he said, had been a happy one.
