N.Z. TENNIS SINGLES. \ BTUBT ALSO ELIMINATED. COOMBE AND BEDFORD MEET IN FINAL. (By Telegraph.—Presg Association.) TIMARU, Monday. The New Zealand lawn tennis championship tournament was continued to-day in fine weather. The courts appeared faster than on the preceding daye. There was a fairly good attendance. There were two big surprises in bho semi-finals of the men's singles, these being the defeats of C. Angas (1929 and 1932 Dominion champion), of Canterbury, favourite for the title, and N. G. Sturt, of Auckland (who won the doubles with L. G. Knott. ; n 1026). Angas was beaten by D. C. Coombe, of Wellington, while another Wellington player, N. F. Bedford, eliminated Sturt. Misses D. Nicholls (Wellington) and N. Beverley (Matamata) had comfortable wins over Misses N. G. Bishop (Canterbury) and T. Poole (Canterbury) respectively. They will now meet tor the title.
