MR. H. A. McCARTHNY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Aji old identity of Waihi and an early resident of Howick and Thames. Mr. Henry A. McCarthny, aped K. died in tlie Wairoa Hospital yesterdav. Mr. McCarthny was born at Howick." and as a young man was employed at the Shortland (Thames) sawmill, and as a carpenter at the Hauraki mine. He came to \% aihi in 1302, where he worked as a carpenter at the Grand Junction mine and later with the V\ aihi Company. Mr. McCarthny served as a member of the Waihi Borough Council for five vears. and wa? also a member of the Waihi Schools' Committee and tlj? committee the \\ aihi Aliners -I_ nion. He was a past-president of the Waihi Federal Band. He is survived by a daughter. Mrs. J. Moorhead (Waihi). and two >ons, Ernest (Waihi), and Victor (Takajiuna).
