RUAPEHU SKI-ING.

FIRST SUMMER MEETING. The first summer sport* meeting of the Ruapehu Ski Club «m held last weekend, and althongh the meeting was somewhat in the nature o? an experiment it proved a success. Skiers regularly find good conditions in different parts of the Dominion during the summer, but a sports meeting has never been attempted before. The snowfield was found to be a mile long, the snow was of an even consistency and steep and varying gradients were experienced. A party from the Ski Club is occupying the club hut at; the 6000 feet level an-1 excellent conditions have prevailed throughout the holiday season. The novice race, slalom and the roped pairs were held on the steep lower slopes on Saturday, and on Sunday the downhill race _ was run from the Crater Lake, at a height of 8500 ft to the foot of the glacier. Results were as follow:—Novice race: A. Plummer 1, R- Marks 2, Miss J. D. Harrison 3; four starters. Handicap Slalom: L. Collins (375) 1. A. Plummer (56s> 2, J. C. McComish (scr) 3; seven starters. Roped pairs: Miss J. D. Harrison and J. C. McComish 1, L. Collins and A. Plummer 2, D. Adams and BEaves 3; six starters. Downhill handicap: Miss J. D. Harrison (6m) 1, C. R. Heeketh (2Vim) 2. R. Marks (4m) 3; eight starters.
