NEWMARKET WORKS.
BrruMnnsiNG- streets. With the object of providing work for unemployed, the Newmarket Borough Council proposes to bituminise five streets, also to complete the concreting of Victoria Crescent and to lay a concrete surface in Crowhnret Street. It is also proponed to construct a footway on portion of Park Road between Khyber Pass Road and Carlton Road. 1 The council recently interviewed thei Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, on the question of subsidies, and if & satisfactory subsidy is granted the council anticipates being able to put about 65 men on the work, the men to work a 40-hour week at standard rates of pay.
