RESERVE BANK RETURN. BIG ADVANCE TO STATE. INCREASED NOTE ISSUE. Another big increase in advances to Statie undertakings appears in the Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, December 8, which was issued last night in Wellington. The statement is balanced at £30,107,781, which is £408.579 more than the previous week. Advances to the Government against the dairy industry account are increased £60,818, a small matter compared with the rise of £500,000 in advances for other purposes. Note issue shows a further rise, though nothing like that recorded in Christmas week. Reserves are further reduced, holdings in sterling exchange being £151,504 lower. Capital was added to general reserve under provisions of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act, 1988. The bank started business on August 1, 1934. The first, which covers the dairy industry, increased rapidly until the week ended November 9. when a slight fall was recorded. , Since then there have been weekly fluctuations, and the latest figure is the highest recorded. The balance of this loan item designated as "for all other purposes" was stationary at £700,000 until a few weeks ago, and since then- it has been increased rapidly by £1,100,000.
