MILLIONS IN FILMS.
According to a Hollywood cablegram this week, the motion picture industry's gross receipts for 1936 were approximately 1,000,000,000 dollars—2s per cent in excess of the 1935 figures, and the best returns for five years. Weekly attendance in the United States alone was estimated at 81,000,000 persons, compared with 71,000,000 in 1935.
