NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday

Two motor cvcle accidents, in wlxicli one man was killed and another was seriously injured, occurred within a few miles of Opunake this evening. _ Mr. Jack Devereaux. aged about 33, builder, of Stratford, died in hospital, and Mr. A. R. Membery, aged 22, of Rahotu, received serious injuries.

The cause of Mr. Devereaux's accident is unknown. He was found unconscious on the road by a service car driver, and was taken to the Hawera Hospital, where he died. His injuries included fractured skull.

Mr. Membery was riding between VTarea and Pungarehu. One foot-rest of the machine collided with a P?®* a a corner, and the rider was thro * heavily. He probably Ims a skull, and is also suffering lom icussion and other injuries.
