CANTERBURY MARKETS.

FOWL WHEAT IN DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The grain and produce markets are extremely quiet, and most sections are unlikely to show much activity until the new crop begins to come in. There is a sustained demand for fowl wheat, both graded and undergrade, and the price remains firm. Good whole is quoted at 5/ a bushel, f.0.b., with under grade about Id cheaper. There is a certain demand for oats and chaff but both are now ill short supply. Reports from the country indicate that most crops are looking exceptionally well. Potatoes, which have been planted heavily, have gone in under almost ideal conditions, and other crops have been given an excellent start.
