' ( In bright sunshine tne Auckland Centre ' of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association held the first of a series of scratch race meetings at the Papatoetoc Stadium banked asphalt track on Saturday. i The Papatoetoe, Lynndale and Manukau j Clubs were represented, and in all 31 races : were decided in two hours 45 minutes. The points system resulted in a clear victory for the Papatoetoe Club, whose members gained S7 points, then came Lynndale with 34 and Manukau with 28. Each club was debited a point for non-starters, and the Manukau Club lost 15 points, Papatoetoe 13 and Lynndale 2. The five miles races were run on the points system for half-mile sprints and provided the excitement of the afternoon. The racing was free from any incidents, but several riders were disqualified for riding inside the "pole" line. Gordon Patrick gave a brilliant exhibition in the A grade five-niiler, and won by over half a lap after leading over the last two miles, whilst Hon Triner chased him hard to be only caught by the rest of the field in the final lap.
