HIGH SCORING.

PARNELL GET GOING. GOOD BATTING EFFORT. WALLACE AND VIVIAN IN FORM. Matches interrupted by rain tile pre vicus week were concluded in ideal condi tions on Saturday in the A.C.A. senioi championship. It was largely a scurr; against time for points, owing to the lost time on the first day, and to take adran tape of the fast wickets. Ponsonby's finis! was weak, University made a good recovery and Eden and North Shore hi! up runs fast. The latter two teams wen the only batting sides of the previous week to get wins. With the wicket help ing them Grafton and Parnell seored fasl and high, with Vivian (Parnell 1 123 not out. M. Wallace (Parnell) 107. Ellis (Graf ton) S7 and G. Wallace (Grafton) 75 not out leading the field for the day. Y.M.C.A wilted under the fast bowling attack ot J. B. Simpson (Shore), who took seven wickets for 52 runs, easily the outstanding bowling feat of the day. Results of matches were as follow :— Grafton, 347 for seven wickets, beat Ponsonby, 126. PARNELL'S EASY WIN. - Parnell had no difficulty in obtaining a first innings victory over University, this being practically il foregone 'conclusion when the game was resumed with eight of the students' wickets down for 74. Parnell's task was made a little bit harder in consequence of the eighth wicket putting on 01. Bell contributing a bright 44. After his dismissal Matlieson was the last man. but he did not get an opportunity of playing hie part, as he soon lost Aitkin, his partner. Aitkin had been there right from' the start and he took his previous week's score of 29 to 4S before Vivian bowled him. Whitelaw and Wallace put on 4S for Parnell before Whitelaw was caught

behind. Then Vivian joined Wallace and tliey wiped off the runs; Both players chased the runs and both had charmed lives. Catches galore: Twefe drooped ofl' I hern, but it was not until Wallace had scored 107 and skied Schnauer up to midoff that Bush displayed a .safe pair of hands. Vivian at this stage was CO and. seeing his century In sight, he restrained himself and went along carefully for the three figures. He lost Buckley and Cleal in the process and when stumps were drawn a quarter of an hour early Vivian had scored 123. Towards the end many bowlers were given short spells and the only 'Varsity player not to get a turn with the ball was the wicket-keeper. Cooper. Garrard bowled over 120 overs and with the exception of the last, in which Wallace and Vivian took 17 off him, he was treated with respect. His luck was out, however, and several catches were dropped off his bowling. Of the four wickets which fell, Schnauer and Butler took two each. Scores were:— UNIVERSITY.—First Innings.
