LAUNCH MISHAP.
NAZI BATTLESHIP. Thousands of Spectators Thunder-Struck. GOVERNMENT BANS MENTION. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 1.30 p.m.) BERLIN, December S. Thousands who had just finished singing "Deutscheland über Alles" following launching of Germany's second 26,000-ton battleship Gneiseliau at Kiel were thunder-struck to see the vessel rush to the water with such force that she snapped two anchor chains. She crossed the channel and crashed into a thick wall on the opposite bank of the river, where a line of marines was standing. The marines scattered. A length of the Avail collapsed. It is stated that no material damage was done to the vessel. The Government banned mention of the incident in the Press or over the radio. The battleship was launched and christened by Frau Merkel, widow of the commander of the former Gneisenau, which was sunk in the Battle of the Falklands Islands. A number of survivors from , the original ship attended t-Ke ceremony.
