MATERNITY HOSPITAL SALVATION ARMY PRAISED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The GoveVnor-General Lord Gal way opened the new wing of the Salvation Army's Bethany Maternity Hospital this morning in the presence of a large gathering of health and hospital authorities. The wing provides 21 more beds additional to the 181 existing in six other such institutions in the Dominion. Lieutenant-Commissioner Adams, expressing appreciation of the support given by. others who were not officers, thereby bringing the total to £is2(Jti toward the cost of the, new wing, paid a tribute to the Government's grant of £500. The Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, spoke warmly of the Government's appreciation of the work, and Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, spoke enthusiastically of the 'work done by the Army in the city, stressing its wide field. Lord Galway welcomed the increasing prevention of mortality in maternity cases, and particularly appreciated the work of the Salvation' Army in this direction. The new wing is chiefly for single girls, but contains a number of private beds which it is hoped will defray the costs of the wing.
