SANDERS CUP CONTESTS.
AUCKLAND TRIALS. The lirst trial to decide the boat, to represent Auckland at. the next contest for the Sanders Cup, to be sailed at Lyttelton on February 4, will probably be held on Saturday afternoon. The entrants are likely to be Alteon", Mr. Roy Clare's boat which competed a" the last contest on behalf of Auckland, won by Avenger, representing Canterbury; Endeavour, a new boat built by Mr. W. Rogers for Mr. W. I'arkes, of Ponsonby: Idler, built 15 years ago by Mr. C\ Wild for his own use and later sold to Mr. T.
McWliirter, and now owned by Mr. Bell, of Tamaki; Joan, owned by Mr. Fred Parke'r, of Devonport, and Iron Duke, the late Lord Jellicoe's little ship which competed with her owdpt at the tiller in the first contest for the Sanders' Cup sailed on the Waitenuita in 1921. She was beaten by Mr. W. McCullough's Heather, representing Otago. Iron Duke is now in the care of .Mr. Cyril Dunsl'ord, an experienced North Silo re yachtsman.
