Seven Seas, a five-year-old gelding by Spear Dance from the Lucullus mare Reliutai. was given his first jumping lesson at -Ellerslie yesterday morning, and shaped very satisfactorily. He is a powerfullybuiit gelding and is in F. Gilchrist's stable at Ellerslie. He. has had one race, and that was as a two-year-old, but he has been in work for a good while, and in his trials 011 the flat has displayed a fair amount of speed. FIRST OUTING THIS SEASON. King's Archer has been paid up for in the Paterangi Handicap, seven furlongs, at the Waipa meeting at Te Awamutu next Saturday, and this will be his first outing since lie contested the Great Northern Hurdle Race last June. Last season he won five hurdle races—the Hunters' Hurdles at Pakuranga, the Kawau Hurdles at Takapuna, the Kaihu Hurdles at the Dargaville meeting, the Grafton Hurdles at the Auckland Cup meeting, and the Brighton Hurdles at Ellerslie. King's Archer is engaged in the four hurdle events at the forthcoming Auckland meeting, and the outing lie is to have at Te Awamutu should sharpen him up, for it does not take much racing l«? bring this horse to his best. , i
