STAFF PROMOTIONS.
HARBOUR BOARD OFFICIALS. Following the retirement of the superintendent and secretary, Mr. H. B. Burnett, the Auckland Harbour Board confirmed at its meeting yesterday two important staff appointments. Mr. D. Holderness, who has been acting-superintendent and engineer during the term of Mr. Burnett's 12 months' leave of absence prior to his retirement on superannuation on December 31 next, becomes superintendent and engineer as from January 1. Mr. W. Brook Smith, acting-secretary, has been appointed secretary from the pawe date;
