FALSE PASSPORTS.

A COSTA RICAN INQUIRY. SAN .TOSE (C'oflta Rica). Tlie Inspector-General of Costa Rican Consulates in Europe, while on a tour of inspection in Germany, recently discovered numerous false passports which had been issued to various Germans who were contemplating visiting this country. The discovery was made when a woman of German nationality, being unable to pay tlie accustomed emigrant deposit, was obliged to leave her documents in the consulate office pending the payment of the necessary sum as required by tlie law of Costa Rica, whereby upon a close'examination of the passport it wm observed the vise, supposedly that of the Governor for San Jose during the past Administration, was false. The inspector-general immediately ordered an investigation, and close examination of others when presented, with the resultant discovery that numerous others had been falsified in the same manner. Proceedings are now under way by the authorities in an attempt to trace the source of supply.
