CHRISTCHURCH, this day,
Incessant rain, accompanied by a south-west gale has been experience.! in Christcliurcli for" the past 24 hours. The Rangatira arrived from Wellington three hours late, speed having to be reduced on account of heavy seas. Special trains were run for the South and W*3t Coast to carry passc-ngers from the ferry.
SLIP IN GORGE. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. Heavy rain which fell at the weekend anil continued yesterday caused a slip on the Manawatu Gorge last evening the route being blocked till this morning when a track was cleared to enable cars to pass. Users of the road have been warned against tlie danger of falling boulders.
