CLOSE SECRECY.
MRS. FREER IN SOUTH. VISIT TO WELLINGTON. AN INCORRECT REPORT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Mrs. Freer, the principal figure in the Australian passport controversy, arrived in Wellington to-day by the Limited express from Auckland, and went to one of the leading hotels. She slipped away from Auckland unostentatiously, but was identified on tbe train. < The" closest secrecy was used to cloak her presence in the city. The management of the hotel stated to-night that she had left for the South Island, but there is strong reason to believe that she remains in Wellington.
A report that Lieutenant Dewar arrived from Australia by the Awatea today, proved incorrect.
