BRITAIN'S BACON.
Large Supply from Frozen Pig Carcases. MINISTER QUESTIONED. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 30. Pointing out that Australia and New Zealand were the chief sources of supply of frozen pig carcases, Mr. W. S. Morrison, Minister of Agriculture, answering Mr. Herbert Williams (Con., Croydon) in the House of Commons, said that 264,000cwt of bacon was produced last year from imported frozen pork by curers in Britain registered under the bacon marketing scheme.
| Such bacon was excluded from the j operation of the Merchandise Marks Act and need not be marked to indicate the origin of the pigs from which it was made. Mr. Williams: Is the Minister doing everything possible to prevent this undesirable practice ? Mr. Morrison: I should like time for further consideration before I reply.
