The term "Breeches Bible" was given to the celebrated "Geneva Bible," on account of its translation of Genesis iii., 7, where the "aprons" of the Authorised Version is rendered "breeches." This edition, published in 1557, the work of English divines, persecuted from the country. In it the text was first divided into verses.
