QUIET MORNING. AUSTRALIANS SLACKER. RISE IN FARMERS' TRADING. After a busy period yesterday afternoon the Auckland Stock Exchange relapsed into quietness again this morning. The main feature of the business was a furthei easing in a number of Australian securities. Broken Hills sold 3/3 lower, at £3 19/6, with more on offer at that price and buyers 0d below. A further drop in Woolworths (Sydney) was evident in a sale at £7 4/, while the New Zealand company's shares were down' 10/ to business at £6, Later, however, there were offers of £6 2/, with sellers 3/ above. Dunlops declined to sales at 17/7. Among local issues Farmers' Trading touched a new peak, selling at £1 1/, later buyer 3 offering £1 0/6 without sellers in sight. In the banking E., S. and A.'s had theii first sale since the payment of the dividend at £5 19/. After a sale of New South Wales at the improved figure oi £35 5/, buyers dropped out, leaving sellers at the sale price. New Zealamls were firmer, with a market between £2 1/6 and £2 2/. There was not much interest in Government stock, and in the local body section a full list of sellers' quotations again failed to attract buyers. Bank of New Zealand Improves. At the noon call firmness in Bank oi New Zealand was again apparent, buyers moving up to £2 1/9. Broken Hills looked a little better with a- market between ££ * 19/3 and £4. Woolwortlis (N.Z.) made a partial recovery, selling 5/ higher, a 1 £6 5/, after which the market lay between £6 4/ and £6 10/. Recent easing in Government stocks continued, and the '52-'ss's changed hands 7/6 lower, at £ 101 10/.
