AUCKLAND CENTRE. "LEARN-TO-SWIM" WEEK POSTPONED. Mr. T. C. Hobbs-Jones, chairman of tlic learn-to-swim and life-saving tuition committee, states that in order to fall in with the. dates for the combined national week the executive has decided to hold the Auckland district campaign from February 22 to February 27. This postponement will ensure the co-operation of the public and local bodies. A public meeting to further the objects of the committee will shortly be called, and it is hoped that the Hon. W. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, will preside. The local executive is of opinion that an educative body to foster the movement, similar to the Workers' Educational Association, should be formed. SWIMMING CARNIVAL. GOOD FIELDS FOR TO-NIGHT. Good fields will compete in the races forming the programme of the carnival to be held in tlie Tepid Baths to-night by the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. Champions such as R. I*. Frankham. N. Crump, A. Pascoe and Misses M. Ley doll, V. Coulthui'st and Mrs. \V. O. Stockley arc among the swimmers who have nominated for races, and interesting finishes lire expected. An A grade privater polo match, the first this season. wHi be played between Mount Eden and Ponsonby B. Team to represent Mount Eden in the water polo match : —Keanc, G. Smith, Crancli. Forrest, \V. Moore, White, Cordes, de Lorre. I'onsonby team in tlie intermediate relay race : —Sellars. Ambridge, Mcnzies, Litchfield, Beard, Livingston, Culpan. OTAHUHU CLUB. The inclusion of some active members on the recently elected committee of the Otahuhu Swimming Club has had a marked effect on interest in the sport, and the outlook for the season is particularly promising. Last evening a concert was given to members and supporters, when a bright programme was staged by members of the Passenger Transport Social Club. The club chairman, Sir. F. W. Grey, (presented prizes won at the annual picnic held earlier in the year. Advantage was taken to discuss the proposed invitation to overseas visitors by the Auckland Swimming Centre, and it was considered that it would be in the interests of the sport if the tour could be arranged, and the question of a guarantee of £52 was left in the hands of the committee. WAITEMATA CLUB. Entries fnr tiie Waitemata Amateur Swimming Club's carnival in the Tepid Baths next Tuesday close to-night.
