LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
ANNUAL TROPHY NIGHT,
At a large and happy gathering of officials, supporters and players in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening, the Auckland Rugby League's annual trophy night was interspersed with bright musical entertainment. A trustee, Mr. E. J. Phelan. presided, and after extending a welcome to all, congratulated the management, club executives and players upon the loyalty and co-opeva-fcion in control, and the play generally during a successful season.
The chairman of the Control Board, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, apologised for the absence of. Mr. J. B. Donald, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P. (president), and Mr. Cyril Snedden,. retiring president of the national body, from whom a congratulatory letter was read.
The presentation list (published on Thursday) was divided into three sections, seniors, juniors arid schoolboys. The captains and club officials of the respective winning grade teams were heartily applauded.
Mrs. J. F. W. Dickson presented the special awards, The medal donated by Mr. Dickson for the most popular senior player went to F. Pickrang (Manukau), and the same donor's medal for most sportsmanlike third grade plarer, to W. Pengally (Ponsonby). Mr. Walter Cuthbert's cap, for the outstanding performer in the Auck-land-England match (chosen by the English managers and captain), was won by the Manukau international captain, S. Watene.
