IMPRESSIVE BURIAL.
MACRI CHIEFTAINESS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Moiulav. Over 1000 Maoris and pakehas participated yesterday at Pakipaki in the concluding stages of tlie tangi and funeral ceremonies following the death of Chief tain ess l'ukepuke Tongiora Mohi, the gathering being one of the biggest of tlie kind held in the district for a number of years. The native population of the whole of the Xorth Island was represented, many tribes having strong representation. In addition there was a big quota of European representatives from all parts of the province. Tlio proceedings were conducted by Ratana. Church members, tlie service b<?ing held at tlie Pakipaki Church, which was given to the Maoris of the district by the late cliieftainess. The body was interred in the native burial ground.
