BRITAIN'S DEFENCE.
Service Contracts Placed Reach £83,000,000. AID FOR DEPRESSED AREAS. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON", October 29. Mr. W. S. Morrison, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, said the Admiralty, the War Office and the Air Ministry would place approximately £83,000,000 on contracts, the whole of which was not due in the current financial year. Orders in depressed areas amounted to £19,000,000.
