FORGOTTEN MEN.
I noticed an advertisement in the "Star" inviting tenders from caterers for 60 men in •a. P.W.D. cookhouse, application having to be made to the New Zealand Workers' Union. Would von grant me space in your valuable paper to ask wlxo controls the Public Works Department, Mr. Semple, the .Government or the New Zealand Workers' Union? It costs money to furnish a cookhouse; and many caterers are at present on sustenance who would be glad of an. opportunity to get back into their normal calling again. A good per* centage of the Public Works Departments cookhouses in the past were run bv F.W .D. workers' wives. Are we caterers to rot on the sustenance heap? I have been tightening my belt for over four years and have got to the last notch. Another hitch and I will part in two. .■■■'. PASSED ME BY.
