TOOLS MISSING.
THIEVES AT PENROSE. NO AMMUNITION REMOVED. FOURTH TIME IN TWO YEARS. For the fourth time within two years a thief paid a visit to the Penrose rifle range last night. This morning the caretaker discovered \hat the strong padlock had been lorced off the door of the target workshop, and the workshop entered, a quantity of tools having been stolen. The. ai-.noury am" magazine, where .303 rifles anil ammunition belonging to the Defence Department are stored, were not entered "As far as we can ascertain no rifles or ammunition were taken on this occasion." said Captain R. S. I idson V.C., Area Officer at Defence Head quarters. Hiifc morning. * "In tlit- past rifles and l, .munition have been stolen and never ana in recovered." Captain .fudson dispatched a staff of men to Penrose this morning to make * complete check of rifles, ammunition and stores, and until this is carried out it is impossible to say what has been removed.
