Mr. Howey Walker returned from Wellington this morning by the Main Trunk express. The Rev. W. G. Bird has arrived at Hamilton from England this week to take up his duties at St. Peter's Cathedral. The Minister of Justice and AttorneyGeneral, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning from Wellington. Mr. A. Tyndall, director of the new Housing Department, was a passenger for Wellington last night by the Limited express after a brief visit Auckland'. Dr. W. Hallenthal, who has been appointed German Consul for New Zealand and Samoa, will arrive at Auckland from Germany shortly to succeed Mr. W. Penseler. His headquarters will be in Wellington. Mr. E. L. Rutledge, New Zealand manager for the Fox Film Corporation, accompanied by Mr. M. A. Toomey, the branch manager in Wellington, will be passengers to Wellington by the Limited express this evening. Mr. S. J. Lamorna Birch, a Royal Academician, accompanied by his wife, will arrive at Auckland by the Rangitata, which is due oil November 18. Mr. Lamorna Bireli is also a member of the Royal Water Colour Society. New Zealand's National Gallery lias some of his work. Mr. W. H. Glimmer, of Auckland, is cxpected to leave England on his return to New Zealand at the end of the month. He has spent several months in Great Britain, France, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Germany and other European countries studying all phases of modern architectural design.
