VETERANS MEET.
FRANKLIN MEMORIES. PUKEKOHE REUNION. MOUNTED RIFLE COMPANY. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") PUKEKOHE, this day. Memories of old Franklin when Pukekolie was a small village were revived to-day when 29 members of the old South Franklin Mounted Rifle Company held a reunion dinner at Pukekohe. Members were present from as far north as Awanui, and as far south as Te Awamutu. Regret was expressed at the inability of the last surviving commissioned officer of the original company, Lieutenant Robert Bilkey, to be present, owing to illness. One of those present was the medical officer, Dr. James Dalziel, of Pukekolie, now aged 91 years. In the centre of the table was a birthday cake with 50 candles on it, also a helmet spike. There was a helmet badge in front. The spike and badge were the property of Lieutenant R. F. Webster, second in command to the late Major Harris. Round the cake was a silver-mounted shooting belt, last competed for in 1895, and won by Mr. W. MeXally.
