WRESTLING.
DAVIS BEATEN BY McCREADY. In a professional wrestling match at Thames last night McCready (16.13) beat Davis (18.(i) by two falls to one. In the third round Davis threw McCready hard for a fall. McCready evened in the seventh round with ail octopus hold and took the winning fall in the eighth with a body press. Mr. .T. McLean, of Auckland, was the referee. Amateur preliminaries resulted: — R. Nepia (Whanganiata). 12.6, defeated I. Hammond (Thames). 12.0, by a fall in the first round; B. Watene (Kopu), 11.2, defeated J. Rare (Hikutaia), 11.0, on points: B. Carey (Auckland), 11.4, drew with V. Young (Auckland), 12.0; S. T. Bridges (Paeroa), 11.10. defeated J. Busby (Paeroa), 12.0. on points: R. Douglas (Auckland), 12.6, drew with K. Kenneth (Auckland), 13.7.
