— J HORSES AND DAIRY COWS,! i FLOOD TAKES HEAVY TOLL. (B.v Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, tliis day. i Severe stock losses were suffered by Mr. C. S .Donald, the well-known trot- j ting trainer, in the Waimakariri Hood. Of a herd of 57 cows and calves grazing on the river bank only 15 have been found. Five horses, including three 1 yearlings by the stallion Jack Potts, and two brood mares, are also missing. Mr. Donald's loss is estimated at £500. The cattle and horses were grazing on land S feet above the normal river level, j but the river rose 13 feet and trapped:, the stock. »;
