TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. BUSINESS KEEPS UP. I 1940 STOCK LOWER. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Business was sustained at a good volume lon Exchange this morning. Values continued firm for most issues. An exception ! among Government issues was 1940 stock, ! which, in the last ' few days, has lost ground consistently, and to-day brought £101, the market closing with buyers at the same price and no sellers. In the banking section New South Wales improved from reported sales at £32 10/ to sales on 'Change £>/ higher, buyers finishing at £32 12/6 and sellers 2/6 higher. Other banks showed little alteration. Goldsbrough, Morts had slightly better support at £1 13/9, sellers 2d higher. Dalgetys were wanted at £S 19/, no sellers. In the miscellaneous section Glass rose by Id to sale, and further buyers at £4 14/A strong demand for Woolworths (N.Z.) ord., at £5 15/6, brought no response from sellers. Mount Lyclls were active at strong rates and closed, buyers £1 11/11, sellers £1 12/. King Solomons, which had been declining for some time, eased again to sellers lOd, buyers 5%d.
