PERILOUS JOURNEY
A perilous journey from Barcelona to the Franco-Spanish frontier is described 111 a London motor journal by a Briton, who was resident in Barcelona when the revolution broke out. The journey to the frontier, which normally takes two or three hours, occupied 12 hours, the car being stopped at innumerable barricades, where machine guns were installed, and the papers of the party carefully scrutinised. The writer says the rules of the road for the revolution were: Salute all cars with three toots of the horn, giving at the same time the Communists' clenched fist salute; approach all barricades very slowly, giving these signals, and stop 011 demand; at night, in place of the horn, headlights to be sw'tched on and off three times.
