The following additional riding engagements for the Caulfield Cup have been announced: —F. Dempsey, Petit Fils; T. Meager, Gay Circle; A. Ayres, Intruder; J. O'Brien, Donaster. Although an acceptor, the connections of Desert Chief are worried over the injury received in the Herbert Power Handicap on Saturday. The horse was lame on the track this morning, and after cantering once round had not recovered, and was taken home. Wliitford is also an unlikely starter. His trainer intended to sera tell him to-day, but was delayed by a city traffic jam until after closing time. OAKLANBS HUNT. NEW ZEALAND HORSES ENGAGED. MELBOURNE, October 12. New Zealand horses who have accepted for races at the Oaklands Hunt Club's meeting at Modnee Valley on Wednesday are as follows:—Glendewar Welter Handicap of £150, seven furlongs and j half: Radiant Star. Gowrie Handicap of £150, one mile and a quarter and 10yds: Jack Horner, Mistletoe. The Cranbourne Turf Club's meeting will be held on Thursday. An acceptor for the Cranbourne Gold Cup of £150, nine furlongs, is Valarth. THOROUGHBRED SALE. KOW TOW AND BILLY BOY. SYDNEY, October 12 At a sale of racehorses to-day a chestnut colt Billy Boy was bought by Mr. J. King for 750 guineas. The New Zealander Kow Tow was offered on behalf of Mr. H. Greenwood, and bought by Mr. 11. ; Bartlett for 110 guineas. CUDDLE COMING HOME. MELBOURNE, October 12. Cuddle is returning to New Zealand by the Wanganella.
