WHALING SHIP ABSENTEES.
THREE SEAMEN PROSECUTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Three Norwegian seamen, Hjalmar Olson, Alf Gunnar Larson and Klas Borgen, were charged to-day in the Magistrate's Court with absenting themselves from the whaling ship Anglo. Norse and from their duty without leave or sufficient reason. Lursen did not appear. Olson, who pleaded guilty, was convicted and discharged and the other two were sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, with tho proviso that they should be p'.aced on board the shi-p if she sailed before tho sentence expired. The master of the vessel said that since her arrival in Wellington the men had refused to work. Olsen returned to work on Saturday. Borgen, who hold a master's certificate, went on shore when he was refused extra money to have his glasses and teeth attended to.
