UNION'S TITLE.
CHANGE TO BE MADE.
FURNITURE TRADE WORKERS. ADVICE FROM REGISTRAR. Intimation that the amendment of title of the Auckland United Furniture Trades' Industrial Union of Workers to that of the Auckland United Furniture and Related Trades' Industrial Union of Workers would be registered oil the completion of certain formalities has been received by the secretary of the union, Mr. A. IT. Dixon, from the Registrar of Industrial Unions. Mr. Dixon stated this morning that the object of the union in seeking to change the name was to make its scope wider than at present, so as to embrace people who were doing work allied to the furniture trade. In the past the union had catered solely for workers ill the furniture manufacturing trade, but now it would take in other workers, such as piano repairers, spring makers and flock and felt workers. Although the latter would be part of tfle union they would handle their own particular sections of the trade in the matter of drawing up working conditions. This procedure would eliminate any misunderstanding which might arise if a committee were left to deal with jobs which they did not understand. Mr. Dixon added that the furniture trade unions throughout the Dominion had all moved to secure the amendment of their titles.
