REFEREES' PICNIC. PRESIDENT HONOURED. The annual picnic of the Auckland Rugby League Referees' Association, held at Henderson Park at the week-end, proved a very successful gathering. Among the visitors who received a welcome was Mr. R. Benson, an ex-chairman of the Auckland League arid of the association. The Carey Cup, for most improved junior referae during the season, was won by Mr. G. Kelly. The sports results were:—Course round (440 yards): E. Butt 1, F. Thompson 2. Hop, 6tep and jump: M. McCowatt, in making the presentation of a travelling rug, referred to the recent serious iJlness of Mrs. Bull and hoped she would soon be restored to good health. Mr. Bull, said the speaker, during his lengthy association with the game had been an inspiration to the referees, not only as a referee and leader but a 6 one who had worthily upheld the traditions of the game.
