A STRANGE FUNERAL.
The recent burial of a bride in hei wedding-gown recalls a strange funeral which, 60 years ago, a Hatfield (Doncaster) eccentric named Pilkington was accorded by his own desire. He would never be accosted by his proper name, but elected to be known as "Squire Jack Hawley." He was buried in his garden in full hunting costume, with spurs and whip, in the centre of the graves of his cattle which died during the rinderpest. He was carried from house to grave on a board, and - then placed ii a stone coffin. 1
