RETAIL SHOP CLERKS.
FULL AGREEMENT REACHED. DEPUTIES AND UNDERVIEWERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, Monday. The Arbitration Court this morning considered an application by the Grey Valley and Buller Deputies and Uuderviewers' Association for a 40-hour week. Mr. T. 0. Bishop, for the employers, announced that as a result of conferences, a complete agreement had been reached. The hours were to be 40 a week, with no restriction of work required on Saturdays or Sundays for mine examinations, in connection with pumping and the control of fires, and for work that could only be done when the mine was closed, a proviso being made that equivalent time should be allowed off within a month. The Court made the necessary order.
(By Telegraph.—Prees Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The third and final section of the Wellington clerical workers' dispute, that relating to clerks employed by retailers, was heard before the Commissioner, Mr. M. J. Reardon, in the Conciliation Council to-day. After a list of parties had been dealt with, proceedings were adjourned until October 12, to enable the parties to have a private conference.
