THE SUM OF HAPPINESS.
Here is a sum for all or us, It's life itself that sets it. Now find the answer; there's reward For each of us who gets it. First, add some courage and some heart To folks bowed down by care. Divide the troubles of a friend, Take on yourself a share. Subtract a little from the sorrow Someone's going through. And multiply a hundred times The kindnesses you do. The answer to this simple sum You'll never find by guess; You've got to work it out to find That the total's—Happiness, A happiness that comes to you, And since it's earned, it's real and true.
