BOXING TOURNEY.

I SACKED HEART COLLEGE. HEAVY-WEIGHT TO P. KYNE. Some clever and willing boxing was seen in the finals of the Sacred Heart College annual tournament last night in the college gymnasium. The winner of Mr. B. Gardes' trophy for the most scientific boxer, R. Lake, had outstanding speed and skill. Opposed to a heavier man, he showed ability to punch quickly and cleanly )vith a straight left and to back-move. Only in the final round did the bigger of the two get a clear advantage by his superior strength. P. Kyne, of Pompallier House, won the heavy-weight final in a close figlit with R. McKenzie (Coolahan). The .Torn Jlolloy Memorial Medal for the winner of the light-weight division went to <T. Enwright. In the interval the Rev. Brother Tarcisius thanked those to whom the successful management of the tourney was due. His staff and the instructor, Mr. H. Donovan, had been untiring and the skill and good spirit shown by the boys were largely due to their efforts. The fact that 135 entrants had taken part was a tribute to the organisation. The Auckland Boxing Association had been particularly helpful in lending the officials and gear necessary. On behalf of the Auckland Boxing Association. the president, Mr. R. Rugg, congratulated the competitors on the skill and keenness displayed. Sacred Heart had produced much 'boxing talent and the present Auckland amateur heavy-weight champion, M.
