HAY'S, LIMITED
Hay's, Limited, drapers, of Christchur"h earned 4293 a net profit for the year ended August 19, compared with £2032 in the previous period. Dividend is iri- | creased from 5 to 6 per cent in spite of expenditure on improvements and '""'eas 6 of the capital, in which 10,000 shares were issued. Transfer to income tax reserve this year is £525, compared with £320 last year, and the balance of preliminary expenses (£245) has now been written off. The directors state that sustained progress was the outstanding feature of operations. The whole of the new share capital was taken up, and a full year's dividend is being paid on this. The sum of £4458 is available for distribution, and after payment of dividend, and transfer to income tax reserve there will remain £2155 to be carried forward. The company was formerly a subsidiary of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Ltd., but in November, 1933, it was sold by the liquidators to a group of Cliristchurch business men, who floated a public company.
