SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
TRENTHAM TRUSTEES' DECISION. ' (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. It was announced at the annual meeting of the Trentham Scholarship Fund executive that the assets of th.j fund were now only sufficient to n-oet the liabilities already incurred 'jnder bursaries, and that therefore no further applications would be invited The report stated that applications for 351 bursaries had been received during the year, compared wich 456 in the previous year. Of these, -31. had beeni declined. The sum represented by awards was £3458 10/, and thg average award had been £14 b'/10. Since these I awards had been made, 31 had been' cancelled, representing £312. Since the inception of the fund, £64,021 had been paid to bursars, and 30G4 bursaries had been awarded, affecting 1381 children. On an average, ea"h child had benefited to the extent of £40 7/2. The excess of income over expenditure for the year was £3200, and the assets now amounted to £3 ;> S6 The retiring members of -he executive, Dr. E. Marsden, Major L. C. Formic and Messrs. W. Appletoji and G 'V Troup, were re-elected.
