A QUIET MORNING. MOUNT MORGANS ACTIVE. MACKY, LOGANS FIRM. There lias beeu little animation in the stock markets siiice last report. A special feature has been continued strength in gold mining shares. Mount Morgans, after active selling yesterday afternoon from 14/2 to 14/9, were quoted at the iirst call this morning from 14/6 to 14/9. Marthas were firm with a market between 19/8 and £1 0/3, and Grand Junctions sold 3d higher, at 3/7. In the banking section New Zealands were close to business, with quotations from £1 18/5 to £1 18/6. National Insurances were in demand, with buyers at 18/9 and sellers 3d higher. Macky, Logans had their first sale since July, showing at £1 1/3 an advance of 1/3. Farmers' Trading had business unchanged at 18/10, and a subsequent market between 18/8 and 19/. In Australian issues Broken Hills were slightly firmer between £3 16/6 and £3 16/8, and G. J. Coles were quoted ex rights, with a wide market from £3 14/9 to £3 17/6. Thames Theatres responded to the announcement of an increased dividend, with buyers at 8/6 and no sellers. Government stocks were in steady demand, and two sales were made at unchanged rates. Kauri Timbers Improve. The market was still quiet at noon, and there were few changes in quotations. In banking, buyers for New Zealands dropped back to £1 18/, sellers £1 18/6, and Nationals were quoted closer, between £2 18/ and £3. Kaiapoi Woollens sold for the first time since the dividend was paid, values being adjusted 9d lower, to 14/6. Australian industrials were generally strong, buyers for Broken Hill contributings moving up to £2 16/6. sellers reducing their limits to £2 17/. Australian Glass, however, had weaker sellers at £4 12/6, buyers £4 12/. Rights to G. J. Coles' new issue had a market between £1 10/ and £1 16/6. In the mining limits for Marthas were adjusted to 19/9 and £1 0/2, and Mount Morgans showed a slight easing, having a sale at 14/6, and moi'e offered at that rate with sellers a penny below. 1 Kauri Timbers had a transaction Cd higher, at £ 1 4/6.
