The result of the Manukau by-election was received with satisfaction by Government members in the House of Representatives to-night, but there was only one reference to it during the sitting. When Mr. H. S." S. Kyle (-National, Riccarton) was speaking late in the sitting, Mr. T. H. McCombs (Government, ■Lyttelton) interjected; "Have you been told tvho your'new leader .is yet?"
