WAIKATO CLUB. THE SPRING MEETING. TWO DOUBLE WINNERS. SPESSIVA AND KING'S GUIDE. Fine weather favoured the Waikato Trotting Club for their spring meeting at Claudelands on Saturday, and in consequence there was a large attendance, the totalizator handling £14,854 10/, compared with £7016 for the first day of the previous spring fixture, when a two-day meeting was held. This was an increase of £7238 10/. Spessiva won the Introductory Handicap and the Rukuhia Handicap, while King's Guide won the Waikato Handicap and the Kaipaki Handicap. These horses are trained by F. J. Smith at Takanini, and he drove them in their races, thus accounting for half tbe programme. Later results: — WAIKATO HANDICAP of £200 and trophy value £30.
