AUCKLAND WELSH SOCIETY
The Overseas League room was well filled on Saturday night when the Auckland Welsh Society held its monthly gathering. • Mr. T. E. Price (president) read out the results of the chief competitions of the National Eisteddfod of Wales held this year at Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, which were very interesting. Visitors were welcomed, amongst them being Mr. C. E. Jones, of Newton, Wales, who has been president of the Canterbury-Westland Welsh Society for some time. Mr. Jones gave a short address and related some of his experiences abroad. Mr. Jenkins, vice-president, then took the chair, when a long programme of vocal and elocutionary items were rendered by Mrs. Asher, Mrs. Rotherey and Mr. Branch. The choir gave two Welsh items under the baton of Mr. D. K. Davies. and a Welsh quartet was given by Mrs. R. Carey Williams, Miss Gwyneth Parry, Mr. Hugh Williams and Mr." Carey Williams. Welsh community ■ singing and supper brought the evening to a close. The accompanists were Miss Gwyneth Parry, Miss Megan Wynn , and Mr. Asher.
