AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD. PASSING OF MR. STORMOifT. ROOPE ROOSTER FINAL SATURDAY. When the meeting of the Auckland ! Rugby League opened last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, information was received of the death of Mr. John Stormont, the senior trustee. Mr. Campbell said that the passing of such a widelyrespected citizen and trustee of the game in this city would be widely deplored. Mr. Stormont had not only been a trustee for over eight years, but his family had been prominently connected with the game on and off the field, and had given many evidence o-f their pride and loyalty. Mr. Stormont was also keenly interested in other sports, notably bowling. He was a man held in high esteem, and his word was his bond both in business and in sport, and the Rugby League suffered a severe loss by his death. A motion of condolence was passed in the usual manner.

Mr. D. Wilkie reported that the visit of the Auckland champion team to the King country on Saturday had created a very favourable impression, and the prospects for the revival of the code throughout that part of the country were most encouraging. The Ideal team, though beaten, shaped creditably, and there were indications that the code had fine prospects in a district extending from Otorohanga to Raetihi, including the towns of Taumarunui, Mananui, Kapaki, Ohura, and Tongariro. It was decided to congratulate Manukau on its pioneer trip, and Richmond Rovers were granted permission to visit Taumarunui on Saturday.

Mr. H. G. Shaw, who managed the Mount Albert senior and senior reserve teams' visit to Napier on Saturday, reported at length on the success of the trip.
