AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD. lEIiNESS OF MR. J. STORMONT. SENIOR FIXTURE AT PAPAKURA. At the meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr, G. Grey Campbell presiding, reference was made to the serious illness of a trustee, Mr. John Stormont, who underwent an operation this week, and it was decided to convey the board's sympathy to Mrs. Stormont and family, and express wishes for ilr. Stormont's speedy recovery. It was decided that the Roope Rooster fixture between Papakura and Mauukau, the championship winners, be played at Papakura on Saturday. The secretary of the Schools' Association advised that Mr. Harold Green, of Avondale, had donated a handsome trophy for competition by senior school teams. The chairman admired the tioph.v, and it was decided to extend a hearty vote of thanks to t'.ie donor. Fresh evidence was taken in committee in connection with the suspension of the Newton player, A. Nathan, and decision was deferred pending further consideration of the matter. Messrs. J. Armstrong and L. Rout, who managed the Auckland school representative team tour to Whangarei, reported that the trip was a creditable success, and the- Golden Bloom banner was retained by the visitors, the match being a 3-all draw. A conference on school football was held during the visit, and was expected to result in much benefit to the game in the district.
